Welcome to the website of Douglas Carr.

The purpose of this website is to bring together the various elements of my life into one place (or more correctly four places) so that my children and grandchildren, and other members of the family may have them on record.  Too often many things about a family are lost simply because they have not been recorded and easily accessible.

It is not simply a photo album, though there are many photographs included, but more of an autobiography and I may add to it from time to time as other things occur to me.

The most interesting recent discovery has been the photograph (above), taken shortly after the event, of the ‘bombed house’ next door at 132, Boyd Street, Glasgow S2, which was destroyed by a German high explosive bomb.  Our house also sustained bad damage resulting in my mother, my sister and myself being evacuated to Leadhills, Lanarkshire.
